Teachers Pensions beware?

Postby Bibby on Thu Jan 04, 2018 12:10 pm

Many of this forum will go onto have successful careers in Teaching. One area to which they may not pay special attention, is their pension.
The Government have recently promoted pensions for all and indeed they are a good idea - if they are administered properly.
However, here is a cautionary tale. My pension recently became due after many years paying in. My records are up to date
and all details have been given. What do I find on the due date? Nothing - no money, no letter of explanation - nothing.
I am left to chase them for money that is owed to me. So, if you are starting out on a career in teaching in the UK
- be aware, your pension may be unavailable when you need it after years of teaching.
