QTS ICT Skills Test

Important Update - April 2012

As of April 2012 you no longer need to take the ICT Skills Test to gain QTS. This comes as part of the goverments changes to the Training and Development Agency and the amalgamation of several web resources into one single site: www.education.gov.uk/schools

The information provided below is for reference only, and website links may become invalid.

The ICT test lasts 35 minutes and, although it is quite unlike using standard packages (eg Microsoft Office), most of the principles are the same. If you are reasonably familiar with the following applications you should find the test fairly straightforward.

Word Processor
Spreadsheet
Database
Presentation
Email
Internet Browser

ICT Test Marking

You must pass the test overall and do not necessarily have to pass every section of the test. Each of your responses carries one mark. Marks may be obtained from any part of the test and will count towards a total score. Each test contains three tasks and each of these tasks contains six sub-tasks.

  • Word Processor - 6 - 14
  • Spreadsheet - where included - 8 - 13
  • Database - where included - 3 - 11
  • Presentation - 4 - 15
  • E-mail - 5 - 18
  • Browser - 3 - 9
